Prior to your first session you will be asked to fill out one or more of the following forms: Client Intake, Insurance and a Release of Information (when necessary). A copy of your insurance card and drivers license will also be made.
Every initial session begins by the therapist reviewing with you the information provided on your intake sheet. You may be asked questions about your family of origin, relationships, social life, employment, etc in order to clarify your current circumstances.
All of this information is important because it will become the basis for which an individualized treatment plan will be developed. Be as honest as possible. Your therapist is not here to judge you, but to aid in your healing process.
Clients new to counseling often feel anxious or self-conscious during the initial visit. This is normal and usually passes as the session continues.
Every client has questions or concerns. Your therapist welcomes the opportunity to address these matters.
